Nigel Saunders, The Bonsai Zone
Canada
Приєднався 22 січ 2014
I'm Nigel Saunders and this channel is all about creating living miniature trees. Most of the work I do is "clip and grow" in a "realistic" style. I am trying to create miniature versions of trees found in nature. I will be posting movies of local bonsai shows and educational videos on the art of bonsai. I am from Southwestern Ontario, Canada.
I have been growing trees since 1993 and belong to the Kitchener-Waterloo Bonsai Society and the Toronto Bonsai Society.
Check out the clubs on Facebook, and for information on our club meetings. See the links below.
Be sure to check out the playlists for individual tree progression, and also for bonsai shows and tree documentaries!
Thanks for watching,
Nigel

Love your hair!
I know this was approximately 8 years ago but did any of the cutting's take hold? They looked great but I know pines are/can be difficult to propagate...Thanks...
As you were preparing to cut the large crossing branch in the front I was thinking, "Oh, no. Don't do it!" As is the normal it was great choice and the tree is already looking better...You are wiz at seeing what isn't there initially...Thanks for sharing Nigel...I really enjoy and learn so much from your videos that I can hopefully learn to apply to my...conifers...
I know this was 8 years ago but I have to always thank you for taking the time to video the Bonsai shows/exhibitions for those of us that do not have access to such wonderful events...Its always very inspirational...
Isabella is such a cool lady, isn’t she? Looking forward to seeing how they turn out.
Awesome! Thanks for showing us this Nigel. Very cool. Your dragon is amazing also!
I never miss an Isabella video! They're always soo soothing!
thank you for always cheering me up, Danté!
Cool finally in the kiln !!! Happy Birthday!!!
Thanks for sharing...
Interesting looking...I like the way it looks with it weeping type branches...Thanks for the introduction of this plant...
Great information...At some point I hope to be able to gather up all your tips concerning "Clip and Grow" to make out an overall picture of cultivating a Bonsai. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and knowledge to those of us that are novices...
Nigel, when I watched you creating the dragon pot (a year ago). I was completely flabergasted. It's a masterpiece! You are a true artist. Your choice to not glaze the dragon and let patina be a part of the piece is yet another attestment to your artistry. I'm in awe. Well done!
Really nice Bougainvillea! Great information and narrative...Thanks for all you do to help your audience become better informed...
Who would have thought that breakfast at work would lead to such a nice tree...Thanks for sharing...
Very cool! I’m excited to see how they turn out! 🤞🤞
Wow so beautiful share about pot.. take care always 🙏🙏🙏
General Sherman II is taking shape...Enjoyed the video...Thanks...
Omg, that baobab is huuuge!😮 Can t find many videos about baobabs grown as bonsai online. Thanks! Can t wait for the next video about them🎉
Amazing how much pruning these plants can take and then come back so beautiful...Looking forward to seeing how this Penjing comes back...Thanks for sharing...
Thank you, Nigel! The kiln is on, and the dragon is getting warmer and warmer 🔥
❤that dragon pot is so awesome 🎉🎉🎉🎉
How exciting. Can’t wait to see the results!
I'm so excited for this! Pottery is such a cool skill. My desire for beautiful human-made pottery really pushed my growth into plant-keeping as a hobby. I hope you had a great birthday!
👍👌👌
Happy Belated Birthday!!!! 🥳🪴🎂🪴🥳
Super. That finger tip pot is amazing. i dont know what you gonna put in it?
maybe a single grass plant.
Happy birthday Nigel 🥰 crossing fingers for your ceramics!
Happy Birthday , and many more
So exciting! It is almost harder to be patient for the final firing, than the slow drying before the bisque . . . The Northern Lights pot sounds very intriguing!
Two amazing artists!!
Happy belated birthday wishes...those pots are wonderful..❤❤
Spectacular.
Nigel those pots and that dragon pot wow I can’t wait to see them. You must be very excited Nigel
Happy belated birthday Nigel, I hope you had a great day!
The dragon looks awesome
This pot selection took the tree to another live...Spectacular...Really interesting video...Thanks for sharing...
Eager to this ones progress...Thanks...
Thanks...Great content for us conifer lovers...
Thanks for sharing...
Hello Nigel. Beautiful tree! If you were to sell this tree, what would you price something like this for?
I've grown many Moreton Bay Fig as plants and as bonsai since the 1980s. The challenges are twig dieback and leaf size reduction. Otherwise, it's a truly glorious tree to grow! Thank you for including them in your presentations, Nigel 😊
Wow! Amazing root growth!! Happy, I guess, Belated Birthday now. ❤
Hibiscus or Bougainvillea?!? Great tour of the plant room trees...So many...So healthy...Thanks for sharing...
Enjoyed the tour and commentary...Thanks Nigel...
That tree is just magical. It's gone through a lot of change. It looks so um... How do I say.... Like a shrunken full size tree. Like if you took away all indications of size, people would not know it is small. Hopefully that makes sense. Well Done Nigel!
Always enjoy seeing your trees...Thanks for sharing...
Love the sounds that you work around...So many examples to learn from...Thanks so much for sharing your experience and wisdom...
Okay Nigel, DO GET UPSET! Try this on for size..."The Stick-In-The-Pot Zone"...I'm just sayin'...You seem to be trending towards this approach...Or maybe "The Chop Shop"...Just give you a ribbing...How about "Have Scissors will Prune"...I'm kidding, kidding around...Your techniques speak for themselves and your trees are amazing. If it were not for your example I would not have had the courage to remove the top 2/3's of a pair tree I purchased at the farmer's market this weekend (It was a single straight 4 foot stalk)...Thanks for you humor and sharing...
So enjoyable!
Thanka...
